Neill has been a consultant and author specializing in accelerated stress testing, teaching, training, selling and writing about HALT/HASS for over 12 years. He holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Colorado State University.

Presentation to Hong Kong Institute of Engineers
Qualmark Senior Application Engineer, Tom Peters, recently presented at the prestigious Hong Kong Institute of Engineers, explaining how HALT and HASS meet the demand for warranty cost reductions and faster product development for electronic and electro-mechanical products.

Avoid Product Failure with Proper HASS Implementation
A Recent True Story
A large, U.S.-based, multinational company recently released a new product that was developed and HALT tested locally. The product was then handed off to the company's contract manufacturer. In implementing HASA (Highly Accelerated Stress Audit) to monitor process, the contract manufacturer developed a Proof of Screen (POS) based on the prototype's HALT results. During the POS process, a failure mode was discovered. Because this failure mode was not found during HALT, the decision was made to modify the Screen and discount the failure. Result? The failure showed up in the field after a short period of time. Clearly the failure mode was related to the manufacturing process - introduced with the move to the contract manufacturer. Lessons learned:
1) All processes should be monitored whenever a change is made to a manufacturing process or if a change in manufacturing location occurs
2) Failures should never be ignored; always perform failure analysis
The company is now insisting on HALT/HASS proficiency training for all of its contract manufacturers.

New Service Iniative to Launch July 1
Qualmark has been investing in personnel, training, and tools over the past few months designed to improve customer support, technical support, and field services. As a result, new processes and service programs are being developed to integrate the enhancements and streamline support services. Watch for the launch announcement as July 1 approaches.

Qualmark Italian Partners IMQ and Belotti Hold Seminar
Qualmark authorized testing lab partner, IMQ, and distributor, Belotti Sistemi, held a joint HALT/HASS seminar in Milan, Italy in May that drew 100 attendees. IMQ provided an outstanding venue complete with AV services, and translators for English to Italian and Italian to English for questions. Buffet lunch (including wine, desert & espresso) was served by waiters. Qualmark's OVTT (OmniAxialTM Vibration Tabletop) system was on display in the lobby during lunch and breaks.
