Qualmark Launches New Web Site
Site to Serve as Central Resource for HALT/HASS
Qualmark has announced the launch of its newly redesigned Web site at www.qualmark.com. The new site is designed to be a central hub for accelerated reliability resources by providing detailed information on HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test) and HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screen) and facilitate connections, for both users and suppliers, with industry experts and services. Qualmark also introduced new visual branding with the launch and has expanded sections on industry applications, HALT and HASS benefits, and resources. The completely revamped site features easier navigation and interactivity such as search functionality and visitor polling.
"We are very pleased to announce the launch of our new Web site and branding”, stated Andy Drenick, President and CEO. “The goal of the website is to serve the AST [Accelerated Stress Test] community with comprehensive resources including white papers, educational and event opportunities, and expert services. Our goal is to make the website a valuable resource for all companies that are working to improve product reliability to reduce lifetime product costs”.
The new site and brand reflects the Company’s strategic move to increase focus on research and development, service, training, and sales for its highly successful HALT and HASS technology. With the recent divestiture of its electrodynamic shaker division, the Company has increased all resources dedicated to furthering accelerated reliability testing which increases the reliability and profitability of the electronic and electro-mechanical products of its customers.

September Ask The Experts - Design for Excellence
Note: Special Time - One Hour Later Than Usual
One of our most popular guest speakers, Dr. Craig Hillman, returns to our forum, joined by Louis Y. Ungar, to present "Design for Excellence".
Design for Excellence (DfX) is based upon the premise that getting product design right the first time is far less expensive than finding failure during use. This webinar will summarize how utilizing DfX concepts; Design for Reliability, Design for Manufacturability, Design for Environment, Design for Testability, Design for Maintainability, and Design for Usability, will not only reduce research and development costs, but will also decrease time to market, and allow companies to confidently issue warranty coverage. Concepts include:
.
- The drivers for incorporating DfX into the product development process
- Best practices in regards to component selection, component placement, and layout
- How these practices need to be adjusted for different manufacturing processes, suppliers, use environments, and reliability expectations
- How to implement DfX as part of internal design reviews
- How to meet time-to-market deadlines and reduce warranty issues
Please note, this webinar will be held one hour later than ususal - at 10:00 MDT/12:00 Eastern.

Qualmark to Present at IEEE ASTR Workshop
Reduce the Cost of Supplier Subassembly Failures in Renewable Energy Applications with HALT
Components used for renewable energy systems must withstand harsh environments while meeting product lifetime expectations of 10, 20 or even 30 years. Power outages or brown-outs caused by system failure to meet such demanding standards can prove to be costly. When overall system reliability is so highly dependent upon multiple, diverse subassembly performances - current and voltage monitoring modules, PC based control systems, remote communications hardware, power supplies - choosing the wrong or inadequate source for a subassembly exposes companies to economic losses. Yet, many of the potential economic losses due to component or subsystem failure are avoidable and can be materially reduced or even eliminated entirely.
Our presentation will detail how HALT can be used to cost effectively address reliability issues in subassemblies intended for use in renewable energy systems. It details the specific, unique HALT goals and benefits when testing these subassemblies and provides a framework for implementing HALT in the supply chain that provides subassemblies or components. Examples from Qualmark’s 15 year history in the Accelerated Testing industry describes how companies have used the information gained from HALT on vendor provided subassemblies.
Visit Qualmark Exhibit for Latest Study on HALT
Stop by Qualmark's exhibit and ask for a copy of our latest study, "Is Your Reliability Testing Program Keeping Pace with Manufacturing and Design Advancements?" The paper features a comparison of accelerated stress tests conducted at Qualmark labs 10 years ago, as measured against more recent results. The review yielded significant differences in the ratios and types of failures found. The study uncovers shifts in operating and destruct limits, reviews causes of the differences between the failure data from the two time periods, and reveals the stresses needed to find failure modes that, otherwise, would go undetected in today's modern electronics.
Visit Qualmark at ASTR Workshop Oct. 7-9 at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City, NJ. Contact us to arrange a meeting time.
