URBANA – A court struggle for documents about the Champaign County Nursing Home will have a hearing by a Champaign County judge.

Champaign County Clerk Mark Shelden sued the county, county Co-Administrator Denny Inman and Champaign County Board Chairwoman Barbara Wysocki on July 3 for refusing his Freedom of Information Act request for documents about the mold problem at the new $20 million facility.

Report: 'Mold house' needs thousands of dollars in work

This outlay will be the responsibility of whoever buys the house, town officials say. Town Building Department officials say no certificate of occupancy will be granted until they're satisfied the home is habitable.

Scientists want bird flu report withdrawn

Chinese scientists said Wednesday that a man initially thought to have SARS actually died of bird flu in November 2003 — two years before the communist country reported any human bird flu infections on the mainland to the World Health Organization. At the last minute, the scientists asked without explanation to withdraw the report, but a medical journal had already printed it.

Parents: mold may still be at school
A summer visit to the modular classrooms at West Broad Street Elementary reveals stacked desks, mounds of children's books, boxes of colorful school supplies and a musky scent.

However, Tools for Schools committee member Kelly Murphy, who visited those rooms during a group walk-through inspection in June, told Souderton Area School Board members last week that the rooms, well - they stink. Now, she and other parents have raised concerns that the smell could indicate the presence of mold. The alleged cause is water runoff pooling beneath the modular section of the school, which sits downhill from an existing housing development.
