Seniors set to battle Village of Wilmette over building repairs

The mood was anything but festive as senior citizens planned a party in Wilmette with a green theme and the unsettling name of Mold Fest. Trying to muster public sympathy, the residents of Village Green Atrium condominiums threw the party Saturday to protest the Village of Wilmette's refusal to help pay for repairs to the building, where years of neglect have resulted in mold and rotting, residents say.

New School Ready For 1st Classes In Easton

EASTON — The new Samuel Staples Elementary School, with its unique barn-like design harking back to the town's agricultural past, will open its doors Wednesday. The $31 million building at Morehouse and Banks roads, which can accommodate up to 800 students, replaces the old Staples school, which was plagued for years by mold and air quality problems.
