While occupational exposure to airborne pollutants such as asbestos and coal dust is known to cause lung cancer/mesothelioma and pneumoconiosis (black lung disease), consequences of exposure to air contaminants, especially bioaerosols, in homes and non-industrial work sites such as office buildings are not yet fully understood.

Legionnaires' Search Widens
Health officials have extended their search for the source of an outbreak of Legionnaires' disease in Hereford, which has killed two pensioners.
Air conditioning systems and water coolers are being checked for the legionella bacteria, which is spread in water droplets. All victims have been diagnosed within the last five weeks and linked to Hereford city centre, where investigations were initially focused on Saturday.
