Verdict Returned in Daniel Is. Mold Lawsuit

In one of several lawsuits over mold-infested homes on Daniel Island, a jury is telling Prudential Carolina Real Estate to cough up $125,000 for not providing mold reports on a couple’s house. The couple in question, Dana Winters and Daniella Winters, were asking for a much higher sum: $1.5 million.

The verdict isn’t final yet, because a judge still has to give it the final OK, but the trial portion is finished in the case. The Post and Courier has the full story:

The Winters bought property at 2105 Live Oak Drive in Moncks Corner in 2005 for $110,000. It included a house and a store. The store is now a bike shop. They intended to renovate the home and offer it for rent but the Winters discovered it had a black mold problem. The suit alleged that the defendants knew or should have known about the mold problem and failed to disclose the information before the sale.

No new word on any of the various lawsuits against homebuilder D.R. Horton, however, which will probably be the big ones to watch.
