Saint Mary's Health Care To Host Legionnaires' Disease Seminar In Grand Rapids
by www.hcinfo.com

Saint Mary's Health Care will host the full day seminar “Legionella Control in Hospitals” on Tuesday, February 12th, at the Grand Rapids hospital's state-of-the-art meeting facility.

The course is for facility managers, safety officers, infection control coordinators, industrial hygienists, public health officials, plumbing technicians, plumbing code officials, and those that offer services related to water treatment, plumbing systems, cooling towers, or infection control.

Matt Freije, author of Legionellae Control in Health Care Facilities: A Guide for Minimizing Risk, will be the instructor. He will give an overview of waterborne pathogens and then discuss guidelines, risk reduction strategies, preventive measures for plumbing systems and cooling towers, outbreak response, and plumbing system disinfection. Television investigative news stories on Legionnaires' disease and a documentary on its discovery will also be shown. Freije is able to present an unbiased view of Legionella control strategies because his company does not sell, or profit from the sale of, chemicals or equipment.

The course is noncommercial--no products or services will be promoted.

The tuition of $295 includes a course manual, certificate, and 0.6 continuing education units. The first 50 paid registrants also get a copy of Freije’s book.
