Some SAHA residents still experiencing mold problems Jessica Silva, Kens 5 Eyewitness News, mysa.com
The San Antonio Housing Authority is under fire again. This time, residents in one of their Section 8 apartment complexes claim mold has invaded their home. But the problem doesn't end there.
Residents at the Woodhill Apartments say not only did it take SAHA weeks to respond to the problem, now many of their possessions are ruined.
SAHA resident Paula Arias says what started as a mold problem has turned into a nightmare. She has not received the results of the mold tests, and she says her daughter's belongings were taken apart and not properly covered. SAHA says they're trying to fix the problem.
"We're trying to work with her. She's being uncooperative, and so it's not allowing us to complete the work," said Gavino Ramos with SAHA.
Arias says she has work orders to prove she's had water leaks since 2003. And when she spoke with SAHA CEO Henry Alvarez, she said he suggested she look for another place to live.
"We'll be more than happy to help her find alternative housing, obtain another voucher. We'd help with the relocation fee," Ramos said.
But Arias said it would just be another quick fix.
"I want to see my things replaced, OK? Made whole again for the damage. I think it's wrong how they took advantage of our property like this," she said.
SAHA says they received the mold test results today and plan to give them to Arias by Tuesday morning.
