A senior at Washington Community High School in Washington, Ill. found mold in a Deja Blue water from the school vending machine, according to The Peoria Journal Star in Peoria, Ill. The student suffered mild indigestion.
The student bought a 20-ounce bottle May 7, opened the seal, took a few swigs and continued on her way to class. When she set the bottle on her desk, she noticed something floating inside and screamed. School officials called Cadbury Schweppes, sent the water and bottle in for testing and had the vending machine emptied. Test results released this week by Cadbury Schweppes indicated "typical food mold." Sanitation records show the filler was sanitized with a seven-step procedure and water was treated with chlorine and ultraviolet light sterilization when it was bottled on March 9, according to a lab report.
