Mold / Dust successfully removed from Hospital OR

OR HVAC Remediation – A Case Study

Project: VA Medical Center - Florida

Project Consultant/contractor: Pure Air Control Services

Project background: The hospital team consisting of head of surgery, infection control, health and safety and facilities management of a large hospital were concerned of increased nosocomial infection arising from their hospital.

The hospitals option was to close the OR (Operating Room) down and refer the patients to neighbor hospitals costing hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost revenue or hire a qualified professional indoor environmental quality (IEQ) consultant contractor who could provide the assurity that the mold / dust buildup within each surgical suite would be contained during the remediation process. After an exhaustive national search trying to locate a qualified environmental consultant the hospital team contracted Pure Air Control Services to investigate and mitigate the HVAC deficiencies that existed.

The Pure Air Control Services Building Sciences team put in place a detailed plan for performing a baseline condition analysis, HVAC mitigation, Topical cleaning, QA/QC and post remediation clearance.

Pure Air Control Services was retained to take on the critical project due to their extensive successful experience in hospital environments.   The project took 1.5 months to complete, was onetime, under budget and exceeded the hospitals expectations. The medical staff with the hospital wrote:

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your crew for the professional demeanor exhibited during this extensive project. They did an outstanding job working within the IEQ guidelines established. The OR staff was able to work concurrently even with the reduction of Operating Rooms. The project was on schedule or ahead of schedule for each of the six phases. It was a pleasure working with Pure Air Control Services on this project."

Sincerely,

Director of Surgical Care

Another happy healthcare facility relying on the interdisciplinary expertise of Pure Air Control Services to plan, prepare and place closure to a extremely sensitive indoor environment.
