UNDATED A man who fled the country after defrauding the Lac du Flambeau (lahk-doo-FLAM'-boh) Chippewa of nearly 300-thousand dollars has now been sentenced to more than two years in federal prison.
Fifty-seven-year-old Neal Allen of West Bend signed a contract with the tribe in 2003 to deal with toxic mold on the reservation. Allen promoted himself as a former U-S-D-A deputy director and a Department of Defense bio-warfare expert with a masters degree from Ohio State -- none of which is true.
Allen fled to the Dominican Republic after signing the contracts in 2003. He was arrested in Puerto Rico last December.
Federal Judge Barbara Crabb sentenced Allen to 26 months in prison and three years supervised release. She ordered 363-thousand dollars in restitution.
