Toxic Mold Blamed for Illness
by KERO 23, Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD -- -- A child is back in the hospital after what his father claims is sickness brought on by toxic mold.

Keandre Johnson has been in and out of the hospital several times for over a year with respitory problems, and his father claims it's all because of toxic mold.

Kenneth Johnson and his son live in the Coventry Apartment complex in South Bakersfield, the same place where a baby died from what her mother claims was an illness brought on by toxic mold.

According to Johnson, the symptoms of both children are the same.

"Recently, doctors notified us of the problem, which they said is phnomenia, and they said mold causes phnomenia," said Johnson.

Johnson also says he complained to the management of Coventry Apartments that the mold is causing his son's illness, but they haven't responded to his claims.

He is trying to move his son out of the complex.

There has been no investigation of Coventry Apartments by Bakersfield City Code Enforcement.

A recommendation by a physician is needed in order for the investigation process to begin.
