People In Indiana, Texas Have Disease After Staying In Metro Hotel
by ChannelOklahoma.com

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Eyewitness News 5 has learned that cases of Legionnaires' disease are growing among people who were staying at a metro hotel for a weekend basketball tournament.

At least seven people in northern Indiana are sick along with several others in Texas. Interim State Epidemiologist Doctor Kristy Bradley said Monday that more than 50 reported flu-like symptoms.

They had been staying at the Comfort Suites at Interstate 40 and Meridian in Oklahoma City while they attended a home-school basketball tournament. State health officials said the hotel's pool was the source of the bacteria.

Groups from Houston, Michigan and Indiana stayed at the hotel. Doctors said the people who became ill had pneumonia-like symptoms. The hotel pool at the Comfort Suites has been closed indefinitely.
