Mold Detection and Remediation Presentation a Success

For Immediate Release:

Atlanta, GA (September 2002) - Pure Air Control Services, an industry leading Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) firm, has just held a very successful IEQ seminar entitled “Detecting and Remediating Mold in the Indoor Environment”.  The seminar was held at the Georgia International Convention Center on September 12, 2002.

Aimed at facility managers, IEQ professionals and environmental consultants located in Georgia, the mold seminar was attended by approximately 100 people.  Representatives from many of the major school districts, health departments, county governments and healthcare institutions were present, as well as several attendees from diversified environmental consulting firms. The seminar was organized by Pure Air Control Services and supported by Professional Trade Shows, with the aim to educate attendees of the complexities associated with indoor environmental diagnostic and remediation projects.

Feedback from the seminar was excellent, with many delegates finding the presentation very relevant to their respective businesses.  Jenny Aggerton of EIC, environmental consulting engineers, said, “The presentation was very applicable for me.  It was presented in such an organized and enthusiastic manner that one could not help but to become involved and not to gain practical awareness of mold detection and remediation.”

The speaker was Mr. Vik Ahuja, CIAQP from Pure Air Control Services, the Clearwater, FL based Indoor Environmental consulting firm.  Mr. Ahuja presented the attendees with a demonstration of Pure Air Control Services’ proprietary indoor environmental screen testing tools, introducing the concept of the "Professional Indoor Environmental Quality Screen Test Kit (PIEQ)".   Mr. Ahuja also gave a generic overview of the Indoor Environmental Quality industry, with a discussion of suitable methodologies for the actual application and execution of screen testing tools, as well as key components to successful indoor environmental remediation.  Several detailed case studies of building diagnostic and remediation projects demonstrated the criticality of addressing indoor enviromental issues utilizing proven scientific methodology and the assistance of qualified IEQ professionals.

The presentation stressed the need for careful planning before executing an indoor environmental project, specifically with reference to the technical aspects such a project raises, such as sampling strategy, laboratory support and adoptation of specifications.

IEQ Trivia

A key moisture control strategy to prevent microbial growth is:

Dilute (ventilate) the indoor air with outdoor air.

Grounds should slope away from the building.

Air conditioning drip pans should be plugged to avoid overflowing.

Wet or damp materials or areas are dried 72-96 hours after a leak.

Clean and repair roof gutters once a year.
