Clearwater, Fl. (June 2002) –
Indoor aeroallergens such as mold and pollen are widely recognized as contaminants which adversely affect human health. According to a 1998 CDC study, asthma affects 10 million adults and 5 million children per year with costs reaching over $10 billion per year for medical care. The same study implicates allergic rhinitis as a disease exacerbated by indoor pollutants.  Allergic rhinitis, also known as “runny nose”, affects more than 40 million people per year and accounts for 3.5 million lost workdays, 2 million missed school days, and direct costs exceeding $4 billion.

To assist the environmental practitioner in identifying the indoor pollutants that are known to be harmful to the human population, the scientists at Pure Air Control Services have developed the Professional IEQ Kit (PIEQ).  The PIEQ is the industry’s most innovative method of sampling mold and other allergens in the indoor environment.  The PIEQ will assist the IEQ professional to qualitatively and quantitatively sample for airborne, surface and carpet contaminants such as mold, pollen, fiberglass, animal dander, and insect biodetritus.

The PIEQ is a simple yet effective design intended to minimize user error and sample contamination.  It was developed with cost-effective and easy to use with minimal turn-around-time for laboratory reports (7 business days).  Those responsible for the health of building occupants and the integrity of a building’s mechanical systems will find the PIEQ particularly useful.

Indtroductory Price $895

Being able to conduct a simple and cost-effective screen has been of tremendous assistance to facility managers such as William May of the Fulton County Government. “What a great concept!”, says May of the kit, “It saved me about two weeks of ‘waiting’ time and $1,500 in consulting fees.”

Technical advances in sampling pump technology are another key benefit of The PIEQ kit.  The quiet, durable, electric pump can be easily transported to and through the job-site.  The multipurpose pump can be calibrated from 3 – 30 lpm utilizing an attached rotameter (figure 1).  This versatility allows for on-site calibrations to collect either viable or non-viable samples.  The state-of-the-art pump is included in the PIEQ is nothing short of revolutionary.

The PIEQ 2003 comes complete with the following items, so you are ready to start environmental testing right away:

·         Heavy duty carrying case

·         High volume, quiet, pump with 3-30 LPM with flow rate control

·         Tripod stand

·         Air sampling cassettes (20 w/vinyl tubing)

·         Dust allergen socks (20)

·         Surface Microscopy Preparations (20)

·         OPTIONAL: Training program to certify field technicians in optimal usage of the PIEQ.

(Additional replacement supplies are sold separately)

The introductory cost of the PIEQ is $895. This price does not include shipping.
