GALLAGHER SETS FORUM ON MOLD COVERAGE

TALLAHASSEE - Florida Treasurer and Insurance Commissioner Tom Gallagher announced today that a public forum will be held in Tampa to obtain public input and hear testimony concerning mold coverage in homeowners’ and commercial residential insurance policies. Gallagher said the forum will provide an opportunity for the public to provide comment and obtain information.

“We encourage full participation from the public,” Gallagher said. “Floridians’ comments, and that of other interested parties, will help us determine how to address this emerging issue.”
To date, the Department of Insurance has received nearly 209 filings, representing 431 insurance companies, requesting exclusion of mold, or limited coverage of mold, in personal residential, commercial residential and commercial property policies.

The Tampa forum is scheduled for August 19, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Temple Terrace City Hall, City Council Chambers, 11250 North 56th St., in Temple Terrace.

A previous forum was held in Miami on July 31, and an additional forum will be held in Orlando on August 14. Written comments will be considered by the department and can be sent to: Steve Roddenberry, Florida Department of Insurance, Division of Insurer Services, 200 East Gaines St. or roddenberrys@doi.state.fl.us <mailto:roddenberrys@doi.state.fl.us

Pure Air Control Services will be represented at the public forum by Vik Ahuja, CIAQP.  Mr. Ahuja can be reached at (800) 422-7873, ext. 804 or emailed at
