New Surface Edit Tool in Pro/ENGINEER Interactive Surface Design Extention

Starting with Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0, you can use the Style feature to directly edit a surface by pulling on a control mesh. This surface can be edited multiple times at different mesh resolutions and all edits are managed during model regeneration. This tool is also useful for general surface modeling.

  1. Access Style functionality using the >Insert >Style menu.
  2. Edit the surface using the >Styling >Surface Edit and pick the surface about to be modified.
  3. Adjust the number of rows/columns of the surface edit mesh. Decide upon the drag direction and also, set the intended geometry constraints (tangency, curvature, etc.) prior to adjusting the surface.
  4. Select magenta mesh markers (hold CTRL key for multiple references) and drag the mesh point(s) as intended. You can also exclude mesh points from the dragging operations. Perform as many edit operations as needed in order to get to the intended final shape (Figure 1).
