Chris C, Engineer, Asks:
I have an assembly in Pro/ENGINEER. There is an outer body, sleeve and piston. In order to see the inside of the body and sleeve I made a cross section for the entire assembly. However, I don’t want the piston to be sliced in the solid model. Is there an option for that?

Applications Engineer Answers:
Use an assembly cut instead of a cross section:

  • Select the assembly datum plane - Edit>Solidify
  • In the Solidify dashboard, click on Intersect
  • Turn off "Automatic Update"
  • Select the piston in the intersected model list
  • Right click remove
