A new feature in Windchill PDMLink 7.0 allows you to drop the file extension from CAD documents and parts created in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire. There are site-specific settings in the cadxhtmlui.ini located in WT_HOME\codebase\com\ptc\windchill\cadx\cfg\default that control this behavior. You can drop the extension from the name or number of the part, or from the part and the CAD document.

The file entry options are as follows:

1.       UploadDropNameFileExtension = If set to true, the extension on the Pro/ENGINEER file name will not appear in the CAD Doc Name field after the first UPLOAD. For example, a Pro/ENGINEER file "12345.prt" becomes CAD Doc Named "12345." The default value is true.

2.       UploadDropNumberFileExtension = If set to true, the extension on the Pro/ENGINEER file name will not appear in the CAD Doc Number field after the first UPLOAD. For example, a Pro/ENGINEER file "12345.prt" becomes CAD Doc Number "12345". The default value is false.

3.       AutoAssociateDropNameFileExtension = If set to true, any extension in the CAD Document Name field will not appear in the WTPart Name field if a WTPart is auto-created from the CAD Doc. For example, a CAD Doc Named "12345.prt" creates a WTPart Named "12345." The default value is false.

4.       AutoAssociateDropNumberFileExtension = If set to true, any extension in the CAD Document Number field will not appear in the WTPart Number field if a WTPart is auto-created from the CAD Doc. For example, a CAD Doc Number "12345.prt" creates a WTPart Number "12345." The default value is false.

The settings related to numbering have no effect if Auto Numbering is turned on within Windchill PDMLink.
