When I was appointed executive director five years ago, an Alumni Council member mentioned to me that one of his primary concerns was to make sure the Alumni Association paid attention to the Penn State campuses beyond University Park. Pope’s “Passion” Pays
For putting his passion for Penn State on paper, H. Ray Pope ’38 of North Fort Myers, Fla., collected $500 in cash for himself and earned $10,000 for the benefit of the Penn State Alumni Association’s student programs. Pope’s 100-word essay was the winner in the “MyExpression Search for Alumni Passion” contest by Bank of America.

CPA Brings World-Class Entertainment to Penn State
When three of the biggest names in music—pianist Emanuel Ax, violinist Itzhak Perlman, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma—make their world debut as a trio on Eisenhower Auditorium’s stage in March, they’ll continue Penn State’s tradition of bringing world-class performances to Central Pennsylvania. And since the 1950s, what is now known as the Center for the Performing Arts has been overseeing much of the University’s cultural calendar.
