California Here We Come!

From the wide sand beaches of Santa Monica and the swanky shops of Rodeo Drive on the west side of L.A. to the stately elegance of Pasadena at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, Penn Staters will be painting Tinseltown blue and white before the Rose Bowl Game presented by Citi kicks off at 2:00 p.m. PST on Jan. 1, 2009.

Vote for Penn State Now

Two of the 14 plays vying for “Pontiac’s Game Changing Performance of the Year” are by Penn State players—Jared Odrick’s end zone sack for a safety against Michigan and the Ohio State fumble recovered by Navorro Bowman setting up a game-clinching TD.

Nittany Lion Inn Seeks Lobby Artwork Proposals

Artists have a chance to leave their mark on one of Penn State’s most beloved landmarks, The Nittany Lion Inn, and receive $10,000 in the process. As part of the Inn’s latest renovations, Penn State is sponsoring a national competition to select a painting or bas-relief for installation in its highly traveled lobby.

Elm Watch

University Park’s towering elm trees—one of the country's nicest stands of American elms—are as familiar to Penn Staters as Joe Paterno and ice cream. But a deadly disease could eliminate the stately elms from campus in just a few years. Penn State researchers, arborists, and landscape planners are in a race to save the trees.

Executive Director's Letter
Everything’s Coming Up Roses!

Penn State completed a dream season, winding up 11-1 after a spectacular win over Michigan State and becoming the first Big Ten team in history to defeat Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio State in one season. The icing on the cake: Having 10 Nittany Lions named to the first team Big Ten All-Conference squad and Joe Paterno selected, for the third time, as the Big Ten Coach of the Year.

Penn State’s Elms: Endeared and Enduring

Penn State’s American elm trees—standing in silent formation along University Park's Burrowes Road, the Henderson Mall, and the central Mall for more than a century—now face possible extinction from elm yellows disease. The beloved trees have survived past traumas with the help of students, alumni, and the University’s dedication to preserving them.
