Football Saturdays include Surgery, Mergers, and More
Imagine the “Alma Mater” played by four cellos. Or seeing and learning about the melting polar sheets of ice from someone who was just standing on them. Or how about discussing the importance of Andy Warhol’s art—like the Marilyns, and the Campbell's Soup cans. These are the first three topics in the “Huddle with the Faculty” lecture series, presented Saturday mornings of each home football game.
Pep Rallies to Fire Up Football Faithful
It’s tough to be blue and white in a sea of Orangemen or red Buckeyes or yellow Hawkeyes. So when the Penn State football team is on the road this fall, the Nittany Lion faithful can gather together at game-day pep rallies organized by the Penn State Alumni Association.
Tailgreat in 2008
Penn State fans looking for a break from traditional tailgating can head to the Bryce Jordan Center three hours before kick off on home game Saturdays for The Blue Band Tailgreat Show, presented by the Bank of America Penn State Rewards Program. It’s free fun for families and fans of all ages.
Executive Director's Letter
Academic Year Begins Anew
This week, the Penn State campuses across the Commonwealth roared back to life with more than 85,000 students arriving in dorms, unpacking at apartments, and settling in for another academic year. The arrival of this great, teeming encampment of the human mind reminds me of how much value our Alumni Association adds to the quality of academic life for our students and faculty.

Homecoming Activities Set for Oct. 17–18
Although late summer and early fall might mean back-to-school shopping and county fairs in most of the country, at Penn State it signals the start of another football season. And once football starts, the Homecoming weekend festivities of Oct. 17–18 are not far off.
Events Welcome Students Back
The Lion Ambassadors and the Blue & White Society, two student groups affiliated with the Penn State Alumni Association, will welcome students back with two of their biggest events of the year: “Be a Part from the Start” and the Blue & White Bash.

Greater Scranton (Pa.) Chapter
Ten bucks still goes a long way in Scranton, Pa. For $10 in annual dues ($15 for couples), members of the Greater Scranton Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association enjoy an annual all-you-can-eat pizza party, discounts to Scranton area restaurants and businesses, and a full calendar of Penn State-related activities.
Penn Staters at Dewey Beach
Some planned their vacations around it. Some came for the weekend. Some wandered in off the street. In all, more than 200 Penn Staters converged on the Northbeach Restaurant and Bayside Bar in Dewey Beach, Del., on July 26 for the 10th Annual Penn State Beach Happy Hour.

Field of Dreams: Beaver Stadium
Even on a scorching day in early summer, the field at Beaver Stadium is a carpet of lush green grass amid the concrete and steel of the empty stadium. No yard lines or end zone paint will appear for several months. Standing near midfield is the man responsible for keeping the turf in shape.
