Pittsburgh Chapter Celebrates 110 Years
Back in 1898, the United States was the world’s rising industrial power, and no city played a more vital role in that transformation than Pittsburgh, the nation’s forge. Many Penn State grads flocked to the city for jobs and careers, particularly our engineers. It comes as no surprise, then, that the first “branch” of the Penn State Alumni Association—the Allegheny County Chapter—was founded in the Steel City.

Cool Times on Capitol Hill
The big scoop on Capitol Hill recently was of the ice cream variety: Penn State’s famous Berkey Creamery ice cream to be exact. Members of the Penn State Professional Women’s Network of D.C., a Penn State Alumni Association Alumni Interest Group, scooped up nine different flavors at its annual ice cream social on June 19.

Arts Festival: 42 Years of Midsummer Fun
The year was 1967. In the very first Super Bowl, the Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs. In May, Elvis Presley married Priscilla Beaulieu in Las Vegas. By summer, more than 100,000 hippies dropped in on San Francisco for the “Summer of Love.” And during the last week of July, a Penn State tradition was born: the first Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts.
