[ A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ]
For Penn State, the best weekend of the year is about to unfold. A total of 8,154 students will graduate with bachelor’s degrees, 6,543 of them at University Park. And an additional 2,201 Penn Staters will graduate with associate, graduate, medical, or juris doctorate degrees systemwide. Our campuses across the Commonwealth are beautiful by mid-May, ablaze with the glad colors of spring, ready for the tens of thousands of family and friends who will arrive for commencement ceremonies.

Council Members Recognized for Service
The Penn State Alumni Association recently recognized two alumni volunteer leaders for their outstanding service to the Alumni Association’s governing body, Alumni Council. In addition, all 32 Alumni Council members who are going off Council were also thanked for their service during Alumni Council weekend.

Group Web Space Size Allotment Now Quadrupled
One benefit to all affiliate groups of the Penn State Alumni Association just got even better. Web space for alumni groups has now been quadrupled in size—growing from 5 MB to 20 MB.

Continuing its tradition of philanthropy to Penn State, the Penn State Alumni Association announced that it will give a $300,000 gift to the Penn State First-Year Enrichment Program for student-athletes from its “Margin of Excellence” fund.

Two new alumni interest groups were officially approved at last month's meeting of the Penn State Alumni Association Alumni Council. Joining the family of more than 270 affiliate groups are the Glee Club AIG and the Council of Commonwealth Student Governments AIG.

Built in 1931, The Nittany Lion Inn is now a Penn State icon. More than just a hotel and restaurant, the Inn has been called "Penn State's living room." It has seen its share of history, some of which is documented in an upcoming commemorative booklet A Tradition of Hospitality and Service: The Nittany Lion Inn 1931-2006.
