More than 200 Penn State alumni and their families joined in the fun of the Arts Festival Alumni Weekend in mid-July, reliving their college days by staying in a Penn State dorm and enjoying the 39th annual Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts.

Members Benefit with LionLink Career Networking
When Ken Rohm '86 Hbg, '89g Hbg recently retired due to health reasons, he wanted to keep active. He and his wife decided to restart a small business they had while Ken was in graduate school at Penn State Harrisburg. As a graduate student, Ken discovered, quite by accident, that he had a talent for using mainframe and personal computers for statistical purposes. Rohm and his wife, Sherri, found that they were able to create complex databases and conduct statistical analyses of the entered date. Soon faculty members and other students were asking them to work on research projects. They worked on Masters and Ph.D. projects, scientific research articles, as well as their own projects.

Sixty-Nine Students Arrived in 1859
In a couple of weeks, more than 81,000 Penn State students will be returning to the University's 24 campuses and a student life filled with studying, socializing, and other activities. But in 1859 when the first 69 students arrived for their first classes and farm chores at The Farmers' High School, as Penn State was known when it was founded, student life was a little different than it is today.
