Coaches Caravan to Visit 17 Locales in May

If you haven’t met new Penn State football coach James Franklin yet, here’s your chance. He’ll be headlining this year’s Coaches Caravan, which features 17 stops across Pennsylvania and in Baltimore, New Jersey, New York City and Washington, D.C.

As part of this year’s Coaches Caravan, Franklin and other featured Penn State coaches will visit 17 locales in a four-week span beginning May 1 in State College. At each stop, alumni, friends and fans will have the opportunity to meet the coaches and hear about their athletic programs at a lunch or evening event.

The Penn State Coaches Caravan is jointly sponsored by the Penn State Alumni Association and the Nittany Lion Club. As a benefit of membership, Alumni Association and Nittany Lion Club members will have the opportunity to register in advance, before the caravan is open to the general public. Member registration begins later this month, with general public access to follow.

Franklin is scheduled to participate in all 17 stops and at least one other coach from Penn State’s 31-sport athletic department will join him at each location, the athletic department announced in a press release.

“Our staff is so appreciative of the tremendous welcome from Nittany Nation,” Franklin said. “The pride and passion for Penn State, the football program and all our teams is very obvious. We are looking forward to getting around Pennsylvania and the region to visit with all of our proud Penn Staters!”

After the opening event in State College, the Coaches Caravan customized coach will roll out of Happy Valley on May 6 for events in York and Hershey, followed by stops in Baltimore and Washington, D.C. (May 7), and Uniontown and Pittsburgh (May 8) during the first full week. Then, the Coaches Caravan will visit Nittany Nation strongholds across Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic through May 22. Fullington Tours will again provide the Penn State customized coach to transport caravan participants throughout the events.

Complete details on event locations, the other coaches participating and registration information for each stop on the tour will be available and announced soon.
