The Sound of Music in Pittsburgh

Article related photo.Catch some future stars of the music world on Feb. 28 at the 6th Annual Penn State President’s Concert, which will feature nearly 200 students performing as part of the Penn State Glee Club, Opera Theatre and Philharmonic Orchestra at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Hall.

The Penn State President’s Concerts were conceived as a way to bring together students and alumni at a gala event—rotating through major East Coast cities. The concerts provide students with a chance to perform in famed master concert halls, while entertaining alumni and Penn State friends in the process.

In addition to this year’s concert, students have performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City; The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.; The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Md.; and The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia.

Hosted by Penn State President Rodney Erickson and jointly sponsored by the Penn State Alumni Association and the Penn State School of Music, the evening features a pre-concert reception from 6:00–7:30 p.m., when alumni and friends can enjoy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and socializing with other Penn Staters. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

Admission to the reception and concert is $50 for Alumni Association members and $60 for non-members. Make your reservation now. For questions, call 800-548-LION (5466), option 4.

If you are unable to attend the Alumni Association’s pre-concert reception but would still like to attend the concert performance, call the Heinz Hall Ticket Office at 412-392-4900 or order online.
