Penn State fans looking for a break from traditional tailgating can head to the Bryce Jordan Center two hours before kick off on home game Saturdays for The Blue Band Tailgreat Show presented by GoPSUsports.com. It’s free fun for families and fans of all ages.
The Blue Band Tailgreat Show offers fans the chance to see a pre–game performance by the Blue Band, cheerleaders, Lionettes dance team, new Nittany Lion mascot Clint Gyory, and more. Tailgreat will continue a tradition started last year: the guest drum major. Some of the luminaries scheduled to lead the band from Jordan Center to Beaver Stadium this season include football greats Curt Warner ’83 and Andre Collins ’91 and University President Graham Spanier. Fans will also have a chance to be guest drum major through various contests.
Tailgreat’s coordinator, Tara Wyckoff ’94, said planning is well underway for this year’s Tailgreats. “We’re still finalizing some of the details but our goal is to make Tailgreat as fun and varied as it was last year,” said Wyckoff.
Some of what's in store includes a Penn State Golf Contest where fans can putt their way to Penn State prizes, a “Champs Day” celebrating Penn State’s 2008-09 champions in all sports, and a Nittany Lion Hoops Festival that will offer a preview of the men’s basketball team.
