Thousands of students attending the Nittany Lions home game against Purdue in October, 2004 wore white shirts to Beaver Stadium, sending a mass message to the players to “White Out” the competition. The “White Out” was an impressive and intimidating home field message sent to the Boilermakers—and a new Penn State tradition was born.

Since then, Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics has called for White Outs prior to a number of big games, both football and basketball. And this fall, there will be more.

The Alumni Store is answering this demand with a crop of white hats and shirts for Penn State White Outs. White merchandise includes long- and short-sleeved T-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, turtlenecks, hats, and Big Ten champion shirts with prices ranging from $27 to $60.

• Vintage-style chinos covered with Nittany Lion embroidery blending school spirit with sophisticated style. For men, the collection features pants and shorts; for women, capris, and skirts. This collection is going to be available on the Web site in the next couple of weeks.
• Miracle in the Making: The Adam Taliaferro Story by Scott Brown and Sam Carchidi ($23.95) and What It Means to Be a Nittany Lion: Joe Paterno and Penn State’s Greatest Players by Lou Prato and Scott Brown ($34.95).

Launched in September 2000, the Penn State Alumni Association’s online Alumni Store receives an average of 6,000 visits each month—generating important revenue for Alumni Association and University programs. Members of the Penn State Alumni Association receive a 10 percent discount on dozens of Alumni Store items in the “member specials” area of the site.
