Continuing its emergence as one of the finest alumni magazines in the country, The Penn Stater magazine was recently awarded the Bronze Anvil Award by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in the “Magazines/External Audiences Primarily” category. The magazine has now claimed four national awards this year, and 34 in the last five years.
The Bronze Anvil Award, created by PRSA in 1969, recognizes outstanding public relations tactics and is the highest award given by the organization. Headquartered in New York City, PRSA is the world’s largest professional organization for public relations practitioners, with nearly 20,000 members representing business and industry, counseling firms, government, associations, hospitals, schools, professional services firms, and nonprofit organizations.
The magazine has also received high praise from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. CASE, the world’s premier professional association for educational advancement, has awarded The Penn Stater three awards this year, including a gold medal in the category “Best Articles of the Year,” for “Brave Heart,” which appeared in the July/Aug. 2003 issue.
CASE also awarded the magazine a bronze medal in the “Visual Design in Print/Covers” category for the Sept./Oct. 2003 cover on “Sharing Spaces” and a bronze medal in the category “Visual Design in Print/Illustrations,” for the opening spread of that same “Sharing Spaces” story.
The Penn Stater magazine is a benefit of membership in the Penn State Alumni Association. Published bimonthly, the full-color magazine is consistently rated by alumni as the top source for Penn State news and information.
