Marjorie Ganter Scholtz ’62 and Pat Farrell ’56, ’72g were recently recognized with Outstanding Council Member awards for their dedicated service and outstanding contributions to Penn State, the Alumni Association, and its governing board, Alumni Council.
The 83-member Alumni Council serves as the governing board of the Penn State Alumni Association. Members of Council are elected to three-year terms by fellow alumni. Meeting on two weekends each year, these alumni volunteers help to shape and influence the policies and direction of the Association.
Scholtz, an education consultant from Pittsburgh, is a 1962 graduate of the College of the Liberal Arts. She was elected to Alumni Council in 1998 and reelected in 2001. During her time on Council, Scholtz has served on the diversity committee and has been the co-chair of that committee since 1999. She has also served as the co-chair of the nominating committee and as a member of the awards committee.
Pat Farrell, a retired Penn State faculty member, received her bachelors and doctoral degrees from the College of Health and Human Development. Farrell is serving her fourth term on Council, after consecutive terms in the mid-1980s. More recently, she was elected in 1998 and reelected in 2001. She has been an active member of the budget and finance committee since her 1998 election. She is also a member of the awards committee and currently serves on the Alumni Council’s executive board.
Scholtz and Farrell both serve as wonderful examples of volunteers who have given of their time and efforts to benefit the Alumni Association and Penn State.
