How many American elms are on the University Park campus?
This month’s question:

Q: How many American elms are on the University Park campus?

A: To date, 191 American elm trees have been inventoried on campus. Introduced in 1752, the American elm has established itself as a tree of great beauty. Unfortunately, the American elm is often susceptible to insects and disease and a suitable substitute has yet to be discovered. (Courtesy of the Office of Physical Plant.)
