Associate Director of Volunteer Management Dan Genard ’93 Lib has left the Alumni Association to accept a position in the Office of University Development. Effective March 1, Dan assumed his new role as Smeal College’s associate director of development.Dan started with the Association six years ago as a regional director, and was promoted last year to an associate director position. During his tenure with the Association, he was known for his grace and skill in working with alumni. Maintaining close ties with group leaders, Dan was dedicated to serving Penn State’s alumni volunteers and was committed to the success of Penn State groups worldwide. Closer to home, he was instrumental in the formation of the Penn State Grassroots Network, and continued to be an integral part of the Network’s daily activities by fostering connections with alumni groups throughout Pennsylvania. As a result of the solid foundation Dan helped to lay, the Network, still in its infancy, has already enrolled more than 33,000 members.
As the lead staff member for the Association’s recognition program, Dan oversaw selection of the Alumni Fellow award, Honorary Alumni award, and each of the alumni volunteer awards.
“Dan has done excellent work on our behalf. He has worked very well with our volunteers across the country, managed our volunteer awards program with great skill and sensitivity, and has displayed initiative and team spirit in everything I've seen him do,” said Executive Director Roger Williams. “I wish Dan well in his new role in our Division. He will do great things for the Smeal College and for Penn State.”
Though the decision, Dan admits, was anything but easy, the new position continues him along an already successful career path. His office location and phone number have changed, but Dan can still be reached at the same e-mail address (dqg2@psu.edu). Please join us in wishing him well.
