Don’t be confused, Alumni Council and Trustee elections upcoming, vote in both
In April two important elections will take place, one for the University's Board of Trustees and the other for the Alumni Association's Alumni Council. While the ballots in your mailbox may look similar, they are in fact different. Your input is critical; your opinion is valued—in both elections.
The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the University. It selects the president, determines the major goals of the University, and approves the budget. Each year the general alumni body elects three new Board members. Printed ballots will be mailed in early April, and ballots will need to be returned by May 13. In an effort to simplify the voting process, while also reducing printing and postage costs, the University will now offer online voting for Trustee elections. Information about online voting will be included in the mail ballot. More than just voting online, alumni can also elect to receive all correspondence regarding Trustee elections electronically.
The Alumni Council is the governing body of the Penn State Alumni Association. The 83-member Council and its Executive Board determine the goals and policies of your Alumni Association. Each year Association members elect 10 new Council members. Ballots must be returned by May 31. Similar to the Trustee elections, alumni can cast their vote electronically via a special Web site. Information about online balloting will be included in the mail ballot. For more information, please contact the Alumni Association at 800-548-LION.
