Alumni Volunteer Update

VOLUME 1 ISSUE 1   January 2004
New alumni volunteer awards program unveiled
On January 15, 2004, the Penn State Alumni Association will be unveiling its new alumni volunteer awards program. Changes to the award categories were necessary due to the growth and development of the Association's affiliate group program. New categories for chapters, AIGs, APGs, and societies include: communications, networking & fellowship, scholarship/fundraising, and Web site. These awards will be joining the existing award categories of membership, new/innovative program, student interaction, professional development, and PRIDE. One winner from each type of affiliate group can win in each category.

The individual award categories have also been enhanced with the addition of a diversity award and a legislative award. These awards will complement the Volunteer of the Year and Recent Alumni awards.

Award descriptions and nomination materials will be available on the Alumni Association Web site beginning January 15, 2004. The deadline for nominations will be April 30, 2004. All award winners will be invited to participate in the 2004 Alumni Volunteer Awards Dinner to be held November 5, 2004 on the University Park campus.

For more information about the awards program contact Dan Genard, associate director of volunteer management, at 800-548-LION, option 3, or e-mail alumni-recognition@psu.edu.
