July 28, 1870: The first organized meeting of Penn State alumni
On July 28, 1870, during the University’s second Harvest Home celebration, a small group of alumni gathered in a chemistry room in Old Main. That small gathering was the beginning of what has grown to be the largest dues-paying alumni association in the world—the Penn State Alumni Association.
