June 1889: Class of 1892 protests classmate’s suspension by establishing “Camp Suspension”
In June of 1889, the community of Johnstown, Pa., was recovering from one of the worst natural disasters in American history. Some 80 miles to the east, students in State College were protesting the suspension of classmate C.H. “Calmity” Musser ’92—whose return to campus was delayed by the flood.
