Baltimore Chapter supports Penn State tradition of service
On April 17, 2004, members of the Baltimore (Md.) Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association rolled up their sleeves and grabbed their cleaning supplies for a day of community service at the Susquehanna Museum of Havre de Grace. The activity was part of the Alumni Association’s National Service Program, which is now in its tenth year.

Northern N.J. Chapter hosts THON golf outing to help fight childhood cancer
Teaming with the IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association sponsored a golf tournament in May that raised more than $35,000 to help fight childhood cancer. More than 100 golfers competed in the tournament, with proceeds benefiting the Four Diamonds Fund.

Philadelphia Chapter hosts event to benefit Adam Taliaferro Foundation
On September 23, 2000, Penn State cornerback Adam Taliaferro suffered a spinal cord injury late in the fourth quarter of the Nittany Lions’ loss at Ohio State. He was told he’d never walk again. Less than a year later, Taliaferro walked, and then ran, out of Beaver Stadium’s south tunnel prior to the Lions’ 2001 season opener. Last month, the Philadelphia (Pa.) Chapter hosted a fund raising event for the Adam Taliaferro Foundation—an organization that provides educational resources for people who work in the fields of athletics and medicine as well as grant funding for athletes who suffer incapacitating injuries.

Georgia Chapter holds retreat in picturesque Dillard, Ga.
On May 8, 2004, members of the Georgia Chapter's Board of Directors held a retreat at Sky Valley Resort in Dillard, Ga. In addition to productive meetings, the group took time to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Penn Staters. Kevin Barron, director of volunteer management, attended the retreat and served as a resource to help the group in its discussions of future directions and goals for the organization. Kevin and his staff welcome the opportunity for this type of one on one interaction with any of our affiliate groups. Please follow the link to view photos from the event.
