Penn State alumni, delegates of agriculture societies and the board elected two incumbents and five new members to serve on the Board of Trustees. MORE>> Alumni Council Elections—Vote in May Alumni members of the Penn State Alumni Association will soon be able to vote in the Alumni Association’s Alumni Council elections. Ballot instructions will be emailed and online voting runs May 7–31. MORE>> Arts Festival Alumni Weekend THON, football, graduation and Arts Festival are the biggest weekends of the year in State College and at Penn State. MORE>> History and Traditions The Famous 500 Sixty years ago this month, a group of women graduated from Penn State—the “Famous 500.” They were the first females to be admitted to University Park following an era when women were sent to other Commonwealth campuses to make room for returning G.I.s. during and after World War II. MORE>>   Alumni Association News Join a Penn State Family Day in Philadelphia Kick off the Memorial Day weekend with a family-friendly mural arts trolley tour around Philadelphia, home to the largest public art program in the United States. The season’s final City Lights event promises to engage Penn Staters of all ages. MORE>> A New Installation and a Marriage Proposal In April, landscaping spruced up the Alumni Courtyard and more bricks were installed, adding to the 1,600 existing bricks that were laid last fall. Alumni have inscribed family names or Penn State memories on 95 percent of the bricks—or, in the case of one Penn State couple, a promise for the future.
