British Airways Selects Progress Software SOA Solutions to Upgrade the Travel Experience
The UK’s largest international airline makes Progress Software part of its program to transform passenger and airport systems

British Airways (BA) will use Progress Software's portfolio of SOA solutions as a key part of its travel program to upgrade its IT systems. This will extend to the end of 2014 and will revolutionize travel by integrating over 600 different electronic systems and processes involved in getting BA passengers in the air. With 300 locations around the globe, 25,000 users and more than 250 key applications, BA's goal is to transform the travel experience. The flexibility of the Progress SOA portfolio allows BA to extend the features of its e-commerce site right through to its airports, by allowing greater self-service functionality and 'plug and play' capability. Year-to-date, there have been more than 5,000 visitors to the site and more than 16,000 page views! In October 2009 there were nearly 500 visitors to the site and more than 1,600 click-throughs to partner Websites. Visitors spent an average of nearly 4 minutes per visit on Partner Websites. In October 2009 visitors from Europe topped the list of geographic locations using the GSL with 35% percent of worldwide visits. There is no charge to partners or users of the GSL! It's part of the Progress Partner Program benefits.
