New York City, New Jersey and Pennsylvania campuses offer countless activities to the public.

Many of the colleges and universities in New York City, New Jersey and Pennsylvania feature museums, lectures and sporting events that are open to the public. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly attraction or a stimulating seminar, you’ll find it at an area campus.
At New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), creative genius comes to life. The Museum at FIT features an impressive permanent collection of 50,000 garments and accessories dating from the 18th century to the present, as well as special exhibits, and offers free admission. Until May 8, 2012, check out The Great Designers, Part One, the first of two exhibitions that highlight masterpieces from the museum’s permanent collection. You’ll see more than 50 garments and accessories by famous designers like Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, Christian Dior and Miuccia Prada. At Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, home basketball games are an exciting experience for fans of all ages. The men’s team takes on Big East rivals like Notre Dame on January 16, DePaul on January 25, Cincinnati on January 28 and Seton Hall on February 8. The women host DePaul on January 24, Notre Dame on January 31 and St. John’s on February 12, 2012. All home games are played at the Louis Brown Athletic Center, which is also referred to as The RAC. Former University of Connecticut guard Ben Gordon once said, “It is very difficult at the RAC. They have a great home crowd. The University of Pennsylvania offers a variety of lectures and seminars to the public throughout the year. The school’s Institute for Environmental Studies runs a weekly seminar series to spark intellectual conversation among students, faculty and interested members of the Philadelphia community. On January 25, 2012, join Jane Willenbring, from the University of Pennsylvania Department of Earth and Environmental Science, for her talk Mississippi Mud: More Water Behind River's Fine Sediment Problem. February 1, 2012 will feature Deborah Rogers (from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Task Force) and the topic Shale Gas: Panacea or Shell Game? Seminars are normally held on Wednesdays at Noon, but check for updated information.
