Spring is almost here, which means races and running events are beginning to fill up the calendar. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or a newbie looking for a 5K, you should consider at these activities coming up in March and April.

Spring Fever 5K, 10K and Half Marathon

On March 20, brave the chill in the air and get moving at the Spring Fever 5K, 10K and Half Marathon at the base of Table Mountain in Golden. Jefferson Countyís NAAC Stadium is the starting point for the event, which promises to be a challenge for every type of runner. Hippity Hop Easter Trot & Kidís Cottontail Fun Run

The Hippity Hop Easter Trot & Kidís Cottontail Fun Run is a great event in Denver, held on March 26. The race raises money for the Denver School of Science and Technology, and gives you a chance to get out on the road as part of your spring training. The even offers two distances: 5K or 10K. Kids running in the Cottontail Fun Run are not timed like the adults, but they can participate in an Easter egg scavenger hunt. Hams and Hamstrings 5K

For some families, Easter is a big holiday full of delicious food. Overall winners walk away with hams (hence the name), and everyone gets a good run in before indulging in all the great food the holiday has to offer. On April 2, the unique Wipe Out event will take place in Winter Park. This two-mile-long course features various challenges that will test your dexterity and balance. Beat Beethovenís 5K

The Beat Beethovenís 5K in Fort Collins gives runners a unique opportunity: instead of attempting to beat a personal time goal, they instead must complete a 5K before the end of Beethovenís 5th Symphony, an approximately 33-minute piece conducted by Fort Collins Symphony Maestro, Wes Kennedy. The event, held on April 3, will raise funds to benefit the symphonyís community and youth education programs.
