The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200, available here at Perkins Motors in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is a standout sedan emphasizing simple elegance, an exemplary driving experience and impressive features, all tied together with Chrysler value.
Starting at an MSRP of $21,700, the 2015 Chrysler 200 comes in LX, Limited, 200S and 200C variants. Chrysler left virtually no part of the vehicle untouched when creating this all-new 200, which is designed to offer more than more expensive competitors like the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Malibu. Here are some of the major details in each category.
In a segment not known for exciting design, the 200 is a welcome addition. Its timeless look is highlighted by clean, elegant lines and a coupe-like silhouette that is the new face of Chrysler. The headlamps and grille are integrated, and a more defined Chrysler winged badge is more prominent. Standard signature light pipe technology, LED taillamps, and available LED daytime running lights and foglamps add touches of class all around. Inside, high-quality materials, soft-touch surfaces and intricate finish details further set the 200 apart. The 2015 200S has a more aggressive look, with darkened trim, accent pieces and wheels.
Drivers have a choice of two strong and efficient engines in the new 200. Standard is a 2.4-liter MultiAir™ Tigershark four-cylinder that directs 184 hp and 173 lb/ft of torque through an industry-first, standard nine-speed automatic transmission. Drivers can expect an impressive, EPA-estimated 35 mpg highway, a 13 percent increase over the previous four-cylinder engine. Also available is the acclaimed 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which cranks out a best-in-class 295 hp and 262 lb/ft of torque through the nine-speed automatic. The new transmission features a state-of-the-art rotary control dial in place of the previous floor-mounted gearshift, saving space and adding to the simplicity to the new 200.
Ride and Handling
The 2015 200 is the most aerodynamic vehicle in its class. As a result, noise, vibration and harshness have all been minimized. Chrysler engineers paid careful attention to improving the overall driving experience of the 200, a goal they achieved by improving the body structure using laser-brazed roof welds that increased torsional stiffness, and by reengineering the chassis to provide impressive handling and steering characteristics. The suspension bushings have been retuned to for maximum comfort, too. The 200 is available with a class-leading all-wheel drive system that provides added traction in all conditions through a “Sport” driving mode. This system also features a segment-first fully disconnecting rear axle to help maximize fuel economy. No Camry, Sonata, Malibu, Accord or Altima offers the availability of all-wheel drive.
Drivers who want the latest in state-of-the-art technology and amenities will be delighted with the 2015 200. An award-winning Uconnect® 8.4-inch touch-screen system is available, as is Uconnect® Access, offering fuel prices and directions at your fingertips. Other impressive features include a seven-inch, full-color LED instrument panel that displays information much like a smartphone iPhone would, and a unique center console that features a covered charging station and pass-through to make getting items like chargers and other small items a breeze. Think of it as a smarter center console.
Chrysler offers more standard and available security and safety features than anyone else in the industry. In addition to standard features like a high-strength-steel body shell, Electronic Stability Control, sophisticated airbags and antilock Brakes, the 200 is available with segment-first ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, which helps with parallel parking through the use of cameras; and Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus with Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus, which can slow the 200, or even bring it to a complete stop, if it senses an imminent collision.
The 200 is built in Michigan, at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. Chrysler has invested more than one billion dollars in the Sterling Heights facility. Once slated for closure, the plant now features a fully robotic body shop and a state-of-the-art paint shop to ensure the 200 looks incredible while reducing costs and contributing to a healthier environment.
