With best-in-class power and fuel economy, state of the art technologies and segment-topping luxury, the flagship Chrysler 300 Sedan, on sale now here at Perkins Motors in Colorado Springs, Colorado, continues to be the choice of discerning drivers. For 2014, the 300S goes “Black and Blue,” with interior and exterior styling enhancements and a studio-quality Beats by Dr. Dre audio system, creating a model with unique Motor City quality, performance and craftsmanship.
The 2014 Chrysler 300 starts at an MSRP of $30,545 – less than the Hyundai Azera, Toyota Avalon and Kia Cadenza – offering value recognized by the automotive press. In their review, the editors at Edmunds noted, “With its extraordinary mix of style, power, luxury and value, the 2014 Chrysler 300 is a top pick among full-size sedans.” The 300S (MSRP of $33,645) adds a healthy dose of additional performance and equipment, making it an even better value. The 2014 300S features a blacked-out exterior appearance, available new Ambassador Blue sport interior and the Beats by Dr. Dre audio system.
Designed for those who love to drive, the 2014 300S offers a choice of powertrains. First up is a version of the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that’s available exclusively in the 300S. It features a cold air induction system and sport-tuned exhaust that bump up output to 300 hp and 264 lb/ft of torque. Combined with a state-of-the-art, segment-exclusive ZF® eight-speed automatic transmission that features paddle-shifters and a “Sport” mode, the V6 returns a best-in-class 31 mpg highway in rear-wheel drive configuration, and its 19 mpg city is unsurpassed in the segment. When equipped with the impressive Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, the 300S with the Pentastar V6 delivers best-in-class V6 all-wheel drive fuel economy EPA-estimated at 18 mpg city and 27 mph highway.
This all-wheel drive system features a segment-exclusive active transfer case and front axle disconnect system that won’t be found anywhere else in the industry. The system transitions between rear-wheel and all-wheel drive with no driver action required. When all-wheel drive is not necessary, the front axle is automatically disconnected, saving fuel and preserving the rear-drive handling and performance feel. In V6-equipped models, a Touring-tuned suspension provides 25 percent quicker steering and 20 percent heavier on-center feel than the entry-level 300 model.
The 300S is also available with a powerful 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that produces 370 hp and 392 lb/ft of torque. Drivers of Hemi-equipped rear-drive 300S models also enjoy an exclusive performance-tuned suspension and larger performance disc brakes. Mileage remains solid, thanks in part to Fuel Saver Mode, which can shut off up to half of the eight-cylinders under light driving situations.
Regardless of your powertrain choices, the Chrysler 300 delivers the goods when you are behind the wheel. In their review of the 300, Kelley Blue Book road-testers said, “The fully independent suspension, precise steering and big brakes combine to give the 300 capabilities that are the match of the best from across the Atlantic or Pacific, whether in refined ride qualities or rapid-fire handling prowess. Cruising along a highway, it seems as quiet as a Lexus, while carving up a canyon, it’s a competitor for the best sports sedans.”
The new 300S is immediately recognizable with its “blacked out” theme and monochromatic appearance. There are special body-color door handles and fascia inserts, as well as Gloss Black belt moldings, headlamp and tail lamps bezels, and daylight opening surrounds. A new Black Chrome grille surround features horizontal grille blades in the same finish, and the front and rear Chrysler winged badges are in Liquid Chrome with black “Chrysler” center logos. The standard 20-inch wheels (19-inchers on AWD models) also feature a Hyper Black finish. A new “straight shade” Dark Ceramic Gray exterior paint is available, as is a Gloss Black painted roof.
Inside, the 300S features an “athletic luxury” theme. Nappa leather seats come in your choice of black or the new Ambassador Blue with silver accent stitching. The front seats are 12-way power adjustable, and the front armrest and center console armrests are French stitched with the same silver accent as the seats. Piano Black covers the instrument panel, gauge cluster and door panels, and even the steering wheel gets in on the action with matte carbon hydrographic accents, die-cast steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and Piano Black trim.
Infotainment is provided by the award-winning Uconnect® 8.4 with the largest touch-screen in the segment. Audiophiles will rejoice with the Beats by Dr. Dre audio system, which includes 10 speakers and a 12-channel amplifier that provides recording-studio-quality sound almost unheard of in an automobile at this price. Beats founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine worked side-by-side with the Chrysler engineering team to design and tune the 300S to deliver the studio-quality sound the Beats system can produce.
"Chrysler brand's S-models continue to be among the most sought after lineup of vehicles with their modern and athletic style – and for 2014, the new Chrysler 300S redefines 'S' for 'Stance,' with an even more imposing presence,” said Al Gardner, president and CEO of Chrysler Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Adding to its legacy, including being crowned ‘Best Chrysler in Decades’ by a leading automotive consumer group, this new generation 300S is where world-class tailoring meets world-class quality, materials and technology.”
