Big on Fun
They say everything is bigger in Texas. And looking at what it has to offer, we agree.

There are plenty of exciting events going on in the Lone Star State to keep you busy! From watching films to sniffing flowers and watching knights joust, you’ll always find something unique and entertaining to do.

Whether it’s with your family, a date or even by yourself, you’ll enjoy what the state has to offer. Here’s our pick of what’s happening now.

2009 AFI Dallas International Film Festival

Lights, camera, action! Dallas rolls out the red carpet for this year’s AFI Dallas International Film Festival. With more than 200 films to see (visit their website for a complete list), you’ll find one, two or even more to view. You can either buy a festival pass or à la carte tickets. Films include Gigantic, a comedy centered around a mattress salesman and a woman he meets at her store; Rock Prophecies, a documentary that takes a backstage pass into the world of rock n’ roll from photographer Robert M. Knight’s point of view; and The Seven of Daran, a children's tale that follows an English boy on an African adventure with the help of a talking giraffe and a precious medallion. The Film Festival is Thursday, March 26 through Sunday, April 5. Films are shown at a variety of venues and theaters throughout the city. For more information, call (214) 720-0555 or visit www.afidallas.com.

25th Anniversary Dallas Blooms

It’s time for Dallas Blooms where you’ll see more than 450,000 spring-blooming bulbs such as tulips, daffodils, Dutch Iris and hyacinth, 3,000 azaleas, as well as more than 100,000 pansies, violas, poppies and more. There’s no better way to kick off spring! Dallas Blooms is going on now through Sunday, April 12 and takes place at the Dallas Arboretum, located at 8525 Garland Road in Dallas. For more information, call (214) 515-6500 or visit www.dallasarboretum.org.

If you don’t want the fun to end, don’t leave! Four Winds Faire has a campground complete with electric RV hookups, showerhouses and restroom facilities, as well as space for tent camping. The Four Winds Faire Renaissance Festival is open Saturdays and Sundays, from 10:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. until Sunday, April 19. Four Winds Faire is located at 22111 Country Road 2178 in Troup, Texas.
