It’s the most exciting time of year for the car industry in Chicago!  With the 100th Chicago Auto Show coming to an end, the public now has the chance to see all of the new 2008 and 2009 models in one place.  This issue we’ve highlighted the new products available at Patrick, which include the newly redesigned Volvo V70, the Hyundai Sonata and Cadillac CTS.

This also is the year of new models for several of the Patrick car lines.  BMW debuted the all-new 1 Series and X6, which is a uniquely styled four-seat “sports activity coupe”cross over.  MINI came out with the Clubman and Clubman S, which is the third body style to join the MINI line-up.  Cadillac has taken its signature design, elegance and technology to new heights with the Escalade Platinum edition.  Hyundai created quite a presence at the Auto Show with the 2009 Hyundai Genesis.  This manufacturer is going after a completely new buyer with this model, the luxury car enthusiast.  The new model will feature rear-wheel drive, V-6 or V-8 engine, the highest level of luxury features ever offered in a Hyundai and more room than the BMW 7 Series – all for the cost of a 3 Series!

You may be aware that Patrick has been committed to many charitable causes throughout the years and I am excited to share that for the second year in a row we are hosting a St.Baldrick’s Shave-A-Thon at our Cadillac store on Saturday, March 15.  Last year, we raised over $25,000 for Pediatric Cancer research.  St. Baldrick’s Foundation coordinates head shaving events in effort to raise money to support childhood cancer research.  Even my son, Hanley Dawson IV, President, of the Patrick Dealer Group, and more than a dozen of our employees shaved their heads to support this worthy cause.  If you are interested in participating in this event or donating, please read the enclosed article or visit www.stbaldricks.org.

We hope you enjoy this newsletter and we appreciate your business!

Sincerely,

BMW’s All-New Dual-Clutch Debuts on the 2008 BMW M3
BMW confirms that it will simultaneously debut the all-new M Double-Clutch Transmission (MDCT) in the M3 coupe and sedan. With seven forward speeds the DCT will operate with two clutches on separate output shafts to facilitate lightning-fast shifts with no interruption in power delivery. One clutch handles the even gears while the other handles the odd gears.

The New 2008 Volvo V70
It’s hard to find a safe, family-friendly car that still retains a sporty look and comfortable ride. Let’s face it: Family-friendly and sporty usually don’t end up in the same sentence. But with Volvo’s new 2008 V70 Wagon, a mesh of the two makes for a fun driving experience and the piece of mind that you’ll be safe driving in your car.

2009 Hyundai Genesis
Hyundai’s lofty ambitions hit new heights with the official unveiling of the production-ready Genesis sedan. The Genesis is going where no Hyundai has ever gone before: rear-wheel drive, with a choice of a powerful V-6 and, for the first time ever, an available V-8.

Cadillac Escalade Goes Platinum
The Cadillac Escalade takes Cadillac’s signature design, elegance and technology to its fullest expression with the new Platinum model. This SUV will be the first to debut light-emitting diode (LED) headlights among American-branded automobiles. The new lights are set inside a revised front end that mimics that of the Cadillac CTS sedan, which includes an all-chrome version of that top-to-bottom grille and a more angular, sculpted bumper.

Jaguar XF
The all-new Jaguar XF debuted at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show and is redefining the boundaries of a sports sedan. Delivering Jaguar's stunning new design language, the XF's unique shape is exceptionally aerodynamic, strikingly bold and its modern and spacious interior is extremely inviting

The All New BMW X6
Turning heads at this year’s Chicago Auto Show was the all-new BMW X6. BMW’s uniquely styled four-seat “sports-activity-coupe”crossover is more than just a new vehicle segment made up by BMW’s marketing department. It’s a launch pad for a number of advanced technologies that will impress any BMW enthusiast.

Edmunds Ranks Cadillac, Saab and Jaguar to Lowest TCO for 2008
Edmunds.com has a consumer product on their website that reveals all of the costs-associated with buying, owning and operating a car over a five-year period. It’s called “True Cost to Own” (TCO). TCO expenses depreciation, financing, insurance, taxes and fees, fuel, maintenance and repairs, to give you an idea of what it will cost you to own your vehicle.

2009 Hyundai Sonata Gets Glamorous
The 2009 Hyundai Sonata may not look much different from the outside, but inside received a glamorous make over that bumps up a former underachiever in the competitive midsize sedan segment to the respectable large sedan class. The Sonata four-cylinder and V-6 models both will get a bump in power and fuel economy, making it the most efficient car amongst its chief rivals like the Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima and the Honda Accord.

2009 Cadillac CTS-V and CTS Coupe

The 2008 Cadillac CTS was a knock out and for 2009 Cadillac is introducing the CTS CTS-V and CTS coupe.  As with the prior CTS-V the new model once again incorporates Corvette-sourced powertrain components but has a 550 horsepower engine.  The CTS-V’s interior and exterior reflect its newfound muscle, looking menacing from every angle.

The All New 2008 MINI Cooper Clubman S Has Arrived
The long-awaited MINI Cooper Clubman S has arrived at the Patrick MINI showroom! This is the third body style to join the MINI lineup. Little distinguishes the longer, roomier MINI’s driving experience from that of the standard MINI. None of the coupe’s quick reflexes, playful nature, or overall MINI-ness is diminished. The only difference is space: 3.2 inches more wheelbase (which yields an equal bump in rear legroom), 9.6 inches of increased overall length, and a cargo hold that grows 24 to 32.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Plus there are a few more doors. From the driver’s seat, you’ll hardly know there’s more MINI behind you, but your rear-seat passengers, pets, surfboards, and shopping bags will really appreciate the extra room
