Winter is Approaching Faster Than You May Think
With another Chicago winter just around the corner, many area drivers are thinking about how to get through it with the least amount of damage to themselves and their vehicles.

A quick call to your favorite Patrick Service Department will relieve any winter worry. Now is the time to schedule an appointment and here are some things to keep in mind when you bring your vehicle in to be winterized:

Have your tires checked.
Ample tread on your tires will give you the best grip. Make sure that the tire has not worn down to the tire wear bars. If your tires are past this point, you should definitely replace them.

Consider purchasing snow tires.
Snow tires make life easier. If you have a rear wheel drive car, or a car with low profile high performance tires, you should really consider getting snow tires installed on your car before winter.  Contact Patrick BMW, Cadillac, Hyundai, Land Rover, Jaguar, Saab, Volvo or MINI to inquire about snow tire package installation and storing your spring and summer tires through the winter.

Give your battery a little TLC.
Without a healthy battery in your vehicle, you are just asking for trouble during the bitter winter. Before the snowflakes hit, make sure your battery’s posts and connections are corrosion-free and that your battery has all the water it needs. If your battery is more than three years old, let Patrick’s certified repair shops test it for you to make sure it can withstand the cold.

Service your vehicle’s engine.
Your car's engine performs differently during the winter, especially in very cold conditions. In order to make sure your car is in top condition and to minimize wear on your engine, have our mechanics check the belts, hoses, battery and coolant.  Make sure your engine oil is freshly changed for the cold months.  The thicker the oil in the engine, the longer it takes to lubricate and warm your car. Your engine's coolant is also important in the winter months. The coolant must be able to withstand our cold winters without freezing. Today's coolant technology is very good at protecting your engine from freezing, but it is always a good idea to check the coolant level and the entire system for leaks. Stalled on the side of the road on a 5 degree day is not a good place to encounter a problem.

Patrick service technicians are trained to maintain your vehicle as specified by the manufacturer.  Let our Patrick service professionals take care of your car and eliminate some of the potential problems that stem from winter driving.
