LAcarGUY’s family of dealerships was a proud sponsor of the Brentwood Grand Prix. The third-year race also served as the California State Championship race with all categories contesting for the coveted “Golden Bear” Jersey which the winner gets to wear in all criteriums in California for the remainder of the 2011 and through the 2012 season.
On display were new Volkswagens, including the 2012 Passat TDI Clean Diesel, and Lexus models, showcasing the popular new CT200h Hybrid. The All New Passat was also the lead vehicle for the races throughout the day.
Racing culminated with the 1-2-3 Women’s and 1-2 Men’s events with both fields boasting top local and national elite racers and teams. LAcarGUY President Mike Sullivan personally presented both winners with their jerseys on the final podiums in addition to providing the title sponsorship which provided the men’s field with a pool of $4,000 in cash prizes.
Eric Marcotte (Sklz-Pista Palace-Bahati) won the men’s event from a break that stayed away from the field showcasing top names including Rahsaan Bahati (last year’s winner), Ivan Dominguez and Tony Cruz. Coryn Rivera (Peanut Butter & Co – Twenty12) took the women’s race with a great sprint from a field that featured Kendall Ryan, Kristin McGrath, Tara McCormick and Suzanne Sonye.
Mike Sullivan was excited to be in at the event and enjoyed the involvement from the large community attendance. As a cycling enthusiast and avid mountain biker, being among the top talent of cyclists heading toward the 2012 Olympics and presenting the winners jerseys , the “LAcarGUY “ himself thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the championship races.
