Colorado’s Address Confidentiality Program: What Associations Need to Know

The Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) is a unique state program that provides domestic violence, sexual offense, or stalking/harassment survivors with a legal substitute address to use instead of their real address. Would online voting increase the member participation in elections?  The use of all forms of e-communication is rapidly increasing on a daily basis.  We routinely maintain friendships via computer, order movie tickets via the internet, and buy everything from shoes to cars online.  Recent estimates show approximately 175 million internet users in the United States.  Convenience ranks as one of the greatest benefits of conducting our personal and business affairs via computer.  So why not make it more convenient for association members to vote online?  This article discusses certain matters that must be taken into consideration before your association takes that step.

Court of Appeals Victory for HindmanSanchez

The Colorado Court of Appeals recently issued a decision concerning the Court approved document amendment process that should be helpful for many associations across Colorado.  The Court of Appeals adopted a broad definition of the type of  communities that are entitled to use this Court petition process.  The appeal focused on whether a community without commonly owned property or common elements was a common interest community as such term is defined in CCIOA.
