Learning a New Language to Compete in Today’s World

“Me llamo Jacobo.” (“My name is Jacob.”) This was one of the phrases that Orlando Regional Chamber President Jacob Stuart practiced during his first Spanish lesson at The Berlitz Language Center of Orlando last week.

For Jacob and his wife Holly, these lesssons will prove valuable when they participate in the Puerto Rico Business & Community Exchange from June 24 to 27, 2004 at El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa in las Croabas, Puerto Rico.

How about you…¿Habla español? If you don’t know what this means, you may be missing out on the potential of one of Central Florida’s largest communities, the Hispanic market. Spanish is the second most recognized language in the world and the third most spoken, by over 400 million people. Our region has been growing as an international trade center and together, we must continue to learn and explore new business and growth opportunties, if we want to be globally competitive.

The Berlitz Language Center of Orlando, a member of over 450 language centers worldwide, specializes in language instruction and key international communication services, such as document translation and interpretation, and Cross-Cultural training.

Now you may ask, how can that help me? Simple. Can you write an introduction letter in business-level language to a potential client in France? Are you familiar with the negotiation tactics of the Chinese? What can you expect from your Japanese counterparts in your first meeting? If you do business with international clients, you need to know how to make the most out of every visit and every meeting.

Berlitz can customize its language instruction to fit the needs of a particular industry or field of work, using the vocabulary that is relevant and critical to their interaction with the public. For a free evaluation of your personal or professional needs, please contact Andrés Goyanes, Director of Marketing and Sales at 407.248.8222, or via email at andres.goyanes@berlitz.com or visit www.berlitzorlando.com.
